Movie Barcode Art

I found this Tumblr the other day while I was doing research for a client.

It’s been around since 2011 and no one seems to know who does it. The Tumblr is anonymous, not credited to any one person or company.

Whoever it is takes movies and compresses each frame into a single line, which he pushes together to create a barcode of the movie. The results are works of abstract art. I would love love love to get my hands on a print of my favourite movie to hang in my lounge. Love.

I selected these random examples of work, check here for the full index of all the barcodes created so far.
