Forty three years ago today, The Beatles played their last ever show as a group.
Atop a rooftop in Central London, they caught the world by surprise. It was the first time they had performed live in nearly three years and people on the street looked up, incredulous. Unsure of what they were hearing.
The police (the cops. Not Sting.) eventually brought the concert to an end. They didn’t have a permit and it was a ‘noise violation’.
Guys, seriously? Seriously.
And that’s where John Lennon uttered these immortal words:
I’d like to say thank you on behalf of the group and ourselves, and I hope we passed the audition.
