Suffering from Olympics withdrawal? Find yourself aimlessly flipping through sports channel, perhaps settling on a rerun of the Montenegro vs Serbia men’s water polo match? (Spoiler alert, Serbia wins).

Come 29 August the 2012 Paralympics kick off in London and it’s set to be the biggest Paralympics in history!
Watching the Olympics closing ceremony last night I was struck with a sense of sadness and anger. Why are these two events still held separately? Surely we are in age of acceptance where our able-bodied and disabled athletes can run, if not next to one another, in parallel events?
Even with disabilities these athletes are achieving physical results most people can only dream of.
McCann Worldgroup have taken some of these results and turned them into an ad campaign to promote the 2012 Paralympics, featuring (amongst others) our very own Saffa, Oscar ‘Blade Runner’ Pistorius.

Let’s not forget, at the Beijing Paralympics four years ago our team brought home 21 gold medals, 3 silvers and 6 bronze.
So lets get behind #TeamSA! We have a crazy team this year of 62 athletes (sponsored by Pick ‘n Pay), including major favourites like Oscar Pistorius, Ernst Van Dyk, Hilton Langenhoven and Natalie Du Toit.
Sixteen days to go, and until then here’s a little summin’ summin’ to keep you entertained and on the Olympics high:
